Capital & Endowed Gifts
Cornell students come to the Hilltop from almost all 50 states and two dozen nations. As graduates will attest the Cornell College experience is transformative--but at this moment we are striving to be even better. The Cornell experience requires a dedicated faculty, a talented student body and facilities that sustain a strong sense of community. To ensure our future success, the college focuses its fundraising on strategic priorities to enhance that experience for current students and help us continue offering an incomparable education.
Leveling the Playing Field:
The Plan for Ash Park
The Ash Park Renovation will encompass two major components:
- Upgrade the football field with field turf.
At Cornell, the football program not only represents our largest team roster, it is also our highest visibility sport both to prospective students and to Cornell alumni. This project will allow daily football practice to take place on the football game field, removing it from the baseball outfield. The turf field can also be utilized by our varsity sports programs, club programs, intramurals, and other student groups.
- Create a dedicated baseball field.
This project will provide a dedicated baseball-only facility. It will include re-grading and re-surfacing of the baseball outfield, effectively addressing the current safety concerns associated with practicing and playing on an uneven surface resulting from months of football practice every year on the same field. The project also includes the installation of permanent outfield fencing, new scoreboard, and dugouts.
The Thomas Commons Renovation and Expansion
New architectural plans for Cornell's Thomas Commons will bring sweeping
changes to the college's student center, adding a majestic entrance and
lobby, glass-enclosed dining addition, and marketplace dining.
Upgrades will add energy and demonstrate a high priority on engaging
The project will be completed in phases and finished by Fall 2014.
